PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film, having a polarizer protection film which consists essentially of (meth)acrylic type resin and is superior in adhesiveness with a polarizer formed of polyvinyl alcohol type resin, to provide a polarizing plate which has high optical transparency, is superior in the optical characteristics and mechanical strengths and is quite superior in adhesiveness between the polarizer and a polarizer protection film, with regard to the polarizing plate which includes the polarizer, formed of polyvinyl alcohol type resin and the polarizer protecting film consisting essentially of (meth)acrylic type resin, and to provide a high-quality image display device that uses such a polarizing plate. SOLUTION: The optical film is made by laminating a resin layer which includes polyethylene imine-based resin and polyvinyl alcohol based resin on the polarizer protective film, consisting essentially of (meth)acrylic-based resin.
