Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass optical waveguide film by which the glass optical waveguide film having little distribution in the refractive index and being uniform is manufactured. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the glass optical waveguide film, comprising forming a deposited layer of glass fine particles by directly blowing and depositing the glass fine particles onto a substrate 11 arranged on a rotary turn table 31 by a burner 21 for synthesizing the glass fine particles and then converting the deposited layer into transparent glass at a high temperature, the temperature distribution of the substrate or the turn table is previously formed in accordance with the relative velocity of the burner and the substrate by controlling the temperature of a heat source so that the temperature of the substrate becomes constant when the glass fine particles are deposited.
