PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the jamming of an original when the jamming is released and the reading of the original is restarted. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus displays "Please press evasion key when a possibility for the original damage exists in reading the original. When no possibility for the original damage exists in reading the original, please return the bundle of originals." A user checks the original ejected to an original ejecting part, judges whether the possibility for the original damage exists in reading the original, when the existence of the possibility for the original damage exists in reading the original, presses the "evasion key" (pressing of evasion key in S15) and when no possibility for original damage exists, directly presses a restart key(S21).
