Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a motorcycle which can eliminates a time lag, reduce consumption power, and prevent a brake pad from being dragged. SOLUTION: The braking device is equipped with a master cylinder 3 interlocking with a brake operating portion 2, a brake caliper 4 imparting a braking force to a wheel by hydraulic pressure of the master cylinder 3, a main brake passage 5 connecting the master cylinder 3 and the brake caliper 4, a hydraulic modulator 6 supplying the hydraulic pressure generated by an electric motor 23 to the brake caliper 4 through the main brake passage 5, and a normally open type first solenoid open/close valve V1 provided at the master cylinder side 3 from a connection part with the hydraulic modulator 6 in the main brake passage 5. After a vehicle speed reaches a predetermined vehicle speed, a rated current is applied to the first solenoid open/close valve V1, and afterward, the current applied to the first open/close valve V1 is reduced in the range capable of maintaining the operating state.
