Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an austenitic stainless steel having superior corrosion resistance at a weld zone, in an environment which contains a chloride at a maximum temperature of 600°C or lower and in which the steel is repeatedly heated and cooled. SOLUTION: The austenitic stainless steel having superior corrosion resistance at the weld zone includes 0.003-0.03% C, 0.4% to 2.0% Si, 0.05-2.0% Mn, 0.03% or less P, 10-16% Ni, 17-21% Cr, 1.0-4.0% Mo and 0.02-0.2% N, in such a range as to satisfy the following expressions (1) to (3): Si+Cr+3Mo≥23 --- (1), (1.5Si+Cr+1.37Mo)/(22C+0.31Mn+Ni+14.2N)≤1.65 --- (2), and 2.9(Cr+0.3Si+Mo)-2.6(Ni+0.3Mn+35C+25N)≥17.0 --- (3).
