Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the production efficiency of charcoal while simplifying the structure of the production apparatus. SOLUTION: A charcoal raw material is charged into a closed vessel 22 made of a heat-resistant metal and handleable with a handling apparatus such as a fork lift to enable the delivery and charge of charcoal together with the closed vessel 22 by the handling apparatus without waiting the sufficient cooling of the charcoal and the charcoal production apparatus 56. The closed vessel 22 is placed in the heating chamber 20 by placing the closed vessel 22 on a cradle 58 and surely connecting the heating chamber-side end 64 of a heat-resistant pipe 34 connecting the heating chamber 20 and a combustion chamber 16 with an opening 68 of the closed vessel 22 by a connection-securing means composed of a disk flange 66 fixed to the side end 64 of the heating chamber and positioning means 70, 71.
