PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer with a scanner which prevents an original from being shifted from a predetermined position when a cover is closed, and to provide a scanner. SOLUTION: The printer 1 with the scanner has a scanner main body part 3 and a printer main body part 5. The cover 7 to be freely opened and closed using a side where a paper feed tray 9 is installed as a turning axis is provided on the upper part of the scanner main body part 3 in order to press the placed original from the upper part. The cover 7 constituted of a flexible member and formed, for example, of polypropylene. In addition, the paper feed tray 9 which feeds paper to the printer main body part 5 is arranged on the upper part of the scanner main body part 3. A guard member 11 is integrally formed on the cover 7 so that an object placed on the lid 7 does not fall toward the side of the paper feed tray 9 when the cover 7 is opened.
