Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a solid polymer fuel cell with a catalyst layer having a sufficient three-phase interface amount. SOLUTION: The electrode for the solid polymer fuel cell has the catalyst layer formed in at least one side of a polymer electrolyte membrane, the catalyst layer is formed by coating catalyst paste prepared by dispersing an electrolyte solution in which electrolytes having different EW are dissolved or dispersed and catalyst carrier particles carried with catalysts and having electric conductivity are dispersed in a dispersing medium, the catalyst paste is prepared by blending and strongly dispersing the electrolyte in which the electrolyte having low EW is dissolved or dispersed in the dispersing medium, and then blending the electrolyte solution in which the electrolyte having high EW is dissolved or weakly dispersed by weak dispersion force than strong dispersion.
