Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an adhesive for woodworking, excellent in film-forming property, workability and adhering strength without adding a plasticizer and used for adhering wood to wood. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the adhesive for woodworking and for adhering wood to wood, the adhesive comprises vinyl acetate emulsion containing no plasticizer. The method comprises a step for polymerization while adding ethylene, vinyl acetate and a catalyst to a reaction system comprising polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and vinyl acetate so as to obtain an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin (EVA) emulsion of 0.6-1.8 μm average particle diameter and of 15-35 wt.% ethylene content, and a step for seed polymerization while adding a catalyst and vinyl acetate to a reaction system comprising the emulsion and PVA so as to obtain a vinyl acetate resin-based emulsion containing no plasticizer and having 15-40 wt.% EVA content based on the sum of vinyl acetate resin, EVA and PVA.
