Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front electrode for a plasma display panel with excellent conductivity and contrast of a display surface. SOLUTION: The front electrode 10 for a plasma display panel comprises: a transparent substrate 15; composite electrodes each made up of a transparent electrode 12 and a bus electrode 11 formed on the transparent substrate 15; and a dielectric layer formed to cover the composite electrodes. The bus electrode 11 has a two-layer structure in which a black electrode 11a and a bus main electrode 11b are stacked in this order from the transparent electrode side. The black electrode 11a contains 1-30 wt.% of conductive metal powder, 31-59 wt.% of black metals, and 11-68 wt.% of glass frit.
