Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an image pickup apparatus to efficiently exhibit its consecutive shot function and electronic flash light function with sufficient balancing. SOLUTION: The image pickup apparatus has a single shot mode and a consecutive shot mode. When judging that electronic flash light emission is needed in a state that the consecutive shot is selected by a user (S10), the image pickup apparatus repeatedly executes image pickup processing (S18) with flash light emission in the single shot mode. When judging that the electronic flash light emission is not needed, the image pickup apparatus repeatedly executes image pickup processing (S16) without the electronic flash light emission in the consecutive shot mode at a high speed.
