Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by reducing wasteful access times to an unused another side, when a single side disk is used or only one side of a two-side disk is used, in the two-side recording/reproducing disk drive. SOLUTION: This disk drive is constituted, in such a manner that a single-side mode for accessing only one side and a two-side mode for accessing two sides are provided. The single-side mode is set to a normal usage mode, and the mode is changed over by a mode-changeover switch 10, when the two-side mode is used.
