Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for monitoring an anaerobic digestion process for precisely monitoring the conditions of a digestion tank even when the mixing ratio of organic objects which are to be treated and are thrown into the digestion tank is changed, and to provide a method for operating the anaerobic digestion process. SOLUTION: In the monitoring method, the total amount of a gas to be generated is predicted with a calculating means 19 from the input of each kind of the organic objects 12, 13 which are to be treated and are thrown in the digestion tank 11 and the amount of the gas to be generated from each kind of the organic objects 12, 13. Since the total amount and velocity of the gas to be generated can be predicted even when the amounts of the organic objects 12, 13 fluctuate due to one cause or another and the predicted amount of the gas to be generated can be compared with the amount of the actually generated gas, the reduction of the amount of the actually generated gas owing to an overload, or the like, can be grasped with a gas generation state determination means 20 so that the conditions of the digestion tank 11 can be monitored.
