Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch controlling device which never bothers an observation of an endoscopic image during a surgery and enables a confirmation of a function assigned to switch means such as a foot switch and a hand switch when necessary. SOLUTION: Image signals, which are fetched from a camera head 23 and are output from an image processor 22, are input to a foot switch controlling device 28. The image signals are processed at a display controlling part 28a of the foot switch controlling device 28, and are displayed after being input to a display 21. The display controlling part 28a reads out the image showing a status of the foot switch corresponding to the function of the foot switch currently assigned to the input endoscopic image from a storage part 28c, and performs the process of superposing the image on the endoscopic image.
