Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe, low-cost and highly efficient weather control method having large scale in space and time, such as more successful rainfall promotion by spreading a rainfall-causing agent to a target. SOLUTION: This weather control method such as rainfall promotion comprises the following procedure: observing rain cloud to specify its center position; calculating a predictive orbit of the center of the rain cloud from the specified position via a weather prediction model; calculating an estimated starting time and an estimated starting position when and where a balloon loaded with the rainfall-causing agent and a spreader gets to a predetermined position at the predictive orbit of the center of the rain cloud obtained from the calculation by backward analysis of the balloon orbit; starting the balloon at the predetermined time and position obtained through the backward analysis; and spreading the rainfall-causing agent from the balloon whose arrival at the predetermined position is confirmed or estimated.
