PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a private branch exchange with which an absence message set to an extension telephone set can be effectively utilized when a call is incoming from an outside line. SOLUTION: In a private branch exchange 1 capable of housing an extension telephone set 3(4) and a voice storage apparatus 2 therein and including a control part 11 for controlling the interconnection of the extension telephone set, the voice storage apparatus and the outside line, the control part includes a call incoming inside line number determining means 111 for determining an inside line number to which a call is incoming from the outside line, a call incoming inside line judging means 112 for judging whether the call incoming inside line is the extension telephone set or the voice storage apparatus on the basis of the determined call incoming extension number, a voice storage apparatus incoming processing means 113 for performing incoming processing for the voice storage apparatus when it is judged in the call incoming inside line judging means 112 that the call incoming inside line is the voice storage apparatus, and an extension telephone set incoming processing means 114 for performing incoming processing for the extension telephone set when it is judged in the call incoming inside line judging means that the call incoming inside line is the extension telephone set.
