Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master-slave telephone system which reduces the disabled time to talk on the slave unit when holding a call at the master unit. SOLUTION: When an operating key 12a is operated to hold an outside call when talking to the outside at on master unit 10, the master unit turns to a hold state. When a slave unit 50 then makes a call, the slave unit 50 turns to the hold state in addition to the master unit 10 being in the hold state, thus turning both units to the hold state and showing the master and slave units hold state on display panels 12b, 53b. When the slave unit 50 operates to release the master and slave units hold state, this state is released to enable the outside line call by connecting the slave unit 50 to a telephone line network 100.
