Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an original printing plate for a lithographic printing plate with a low manufacturing cost and a residual solvent. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the original printing plate for the lithographic printing plate with a photosensitive layer on a substrate, comprises (a) a process wherein a continuous substrate is coated with a photosensitive composition while the substrate is carried to form a coated body with a coating layer of the photosensitive composition on the substrate, (b) a process wherein the coated body is dried while it is carried, (c) a process wherein the coated body is wound up to form a wound body so that there exists a gap at least in a part between the coating layer and the back surface of the substrate, and (d) a process wherein the wound body is treated for curing. It is preferable that the photosensitive layer is composed of a hydrophilic material with a phase separating structure of a hydrophilic polymer and a lipophilic polymer, and the hydrophilic material is changeable to lipophilic with a laser irradiation.
