Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make easily manufacturable a stirling refrigerator by eliminating the need of normal temperature and low temperature seals to eliminate the need of controlling seal clearances. SOLUTION: This stirling refrigerator is provided with a cold head 60 in which a heat exchanger 10 is fixed, a compression piston 24 or a cylinder 25 for compressing refrigerant gas in a compression space 22 allowed to communicate with one side of the heat exchanger 10, and a compressing/expanding machine 80 having a displacer piston 34 or a cylinder 35 allowed to communicate with an expansion space 32 for expanding the refrigerant gas.
