Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information medium which cannot be easily adhered with dirt, dust, a speck, etc. and can efficiently remove contaminated materials such as fingerprints and furthermore, can efficiently perform recording or reproducing, and to provide an optical disk drive. SOLUTION: The optical information medium 10 performs recording, reproducing, or recording/reproducing of information by being irradiated with light energy. The optical information medium is characterized in that a surface coated layer 1 made of mixed material of electrically conductive material and photoactivated photocatalyst material in at least a ultraviolet light area or a visible light area on a surface by the incident side of the above light energy. The optical disk system is equipped with a rotating means to rotate this optical information media 10 and an stimulation measures to excite photo initiator matter of the surface courting layers in optical information media 10 by an electron beam.
