PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber sheet having high mechanical strength and good in handleability, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The inorganic fiber sheet is based on inorganic fibers consisting mainly of an ioorganic component. In this inorganic fiber sheet, "the standard deviation for fiber orientation" is ≤30. The method for producing the inorganic fiber sheet comprises (1) the step of preparing a sol solution consisting mainly of the inorganic component, (2) the step of extruding the sol solution via a nozzle, subjecting the thus extruded sol solution to an electric field to convert the sol solution into inorganic gel-like fibers, accumulating the inorganic gel-like fibers on a substrate moving at a speed of ≥200 m/min to form an inorganic gel-like fiber sheet, and (3) the step of drying the inorganic gel-like fiber sheet to form a dry inorganic gel-like fiber sheet as the final inorganic fiber sheet.
