Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a looper in a sewing machine which can surely prevent a product loss due to the skipping of stitches from being caused by properly performing a needle blurring restriction and the loop formation of a needle thread, and surely making the needle thread and a bobbin thread loop with the other thread. SOLUTION: A looper body 24 which is fixed to a looper shaft 25 through a looper supporting body 23 is equipped with a blade part 27 which longitudinally moves, and through which the bobbin thread 28 is passed. When seen from the front surface, on the left diagonally lower side of the blade part 27, a first arm 30 is projected forward, and at the same time, on the right diagonally lower side, a second arm 31 is projected forward. A second arm 31 is located with a gap being approximately equal to the diameter of a needle which vertically moves, and through which the needle thread is passed, to the blade part 27 when seen in plane view. Therefore, when the needle reciprocates in the vertical direction in the vicinity of a bottom dead center, the second arm 31 restricts the needle from positionally blurring (needle blurring) in the separating direction from the blade part 27.
