Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely determine the location of a partial discharge by the waveform of a partial discharge signal selected to the necessary minimum. SOLUTION: In the device which has at least three detectors 9, 10, 11, and 12 for detecting the waveform of the partial discharge signal and which determines the generation location of the partial discharge according to the waveform of the output signal of the detectors 9, 10, 11, and 12, a signal switch 14 is provided, for selectively deriving the waveforms of the output signals of two detectors 10 and 11 adjacent to the generation point 7 of the partial discharge , among the at least three detectors 9, 10, 11, and 12.
