Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a urethane compound which can be produced by a simple production method, is liquid, and gives organic photorefractive materials which have excellent photorefractive characteristics and have high moldability without using a plasticizer. SOLUTION: The urethane compound is represented by the formula (I): A-R1-OCONH-G-NHCOO-R2-P (I) (G is a divalent aromatic ring or alicyclic type organic group; A is a non-linear optical function group; P is a photocarrier-generating, transporting function group; R1and R2are each independently a 2 to 12C alkylene).
