Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high quality image display by avoiding the generation of a double contour especially in moving picture display in a liquid crystal display device that has a backlight in which a cold cathode fluorescent lamp and a light emitting diode are simultaneously used. SOLUTION: A cold cathode fluorescent lamp 4 and a light emitting diode 5 are arranged together in the backlight. A first flickering control signal 2002 and a second flickering control signal 2004 of the diode which are respectively amplified by a first pulse amplitude amplifying circuit 301 and a second pulse amplitude amplifying circuit 302 are respectively integrated by a first integrating circuit that consists of a resistor 3011, a capacitor 3013 and a diode 3012 and a second integrating circuit that consists of a resistor 3021, a capacitor 3023 and a diode 3022, and the respective outputs are inputted into a third operational amplifier 303 and the output of the amplifier 303 is supplied to a light emitting diode driving circuit 21.
