Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To get stable output by driving a synchronous generator, while estimating the position of the rotor by sensorless control, and controlling a converter with accuracy. SOLUTION: For this controller, a power rectifier is equipped with a voltage detector which detects the voltage of the terminal of the stator of the synchronous generator, a current detector which detects the current of the stator, a rotor's position estimating means which estimates the position of the rotor of the synchronous generator from the voltage detected value and the current detected value, an active power detector which detects the active power of the synchronous generator, a reactive power detector which detects the reactive power of the synchronous generator or a terminal voltage detector which detects the effective value of the terminal voltage of the stator, a reactive power controller which uses an active power detected value, and an active power controller which uses a reactive power detected value or a terminal voltage controller which uses a terminal voltage detected value, and the effective power controller controls the active power by regulating a q-axis current command, and the reactive power controller or the terminal voltage controller controls the reactive power or the terminal voltage, by regulating a d-axis current command.
