PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display unit, on which a large capacity highly precise image is displayed according to the display resolution of the display means, even if the storage capacity of an image processing memory 4 is not sufficient for the image data processing. SOLUTION: The image display unit is provided with an external outputting means 3 which outputs image data from an image display memory 2 to a display monitor, an image processing memory 4 which has a storage region for an image data processing, a display resolution information obtaining means 6, which obtains display memory information of the means 2 and display resolution information of the means 3 and an image conversion processing means 7 which conducts conversion processes for the image data read from the memory 4, using the display memory information obtained by the means 6 and the amount of information, based on the display resolution information and supplies the processed data to the memory 2.
