Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern variable display device 2 with which the component costs and assembly costs of an illuminator 18 are hardly increased even when two or more sets of pattern display tapes 13A-13C are used. SOLUTION: This pattern variable display device 2 is provided with the pattern display tapes 13A-13C each composed by displaying a plurality of patterns 6 on a belt-like endless light-transmissive film 19, a plurality of pulleys for disposing the pattern display tapes 13A-13C, and a driving means for driving the pattern display tapes 13A-13C to circulate and is composed by arraying two or more sets of the pattern display pates 13A-13C in a parallel state. The illuminator 18 is constituted of a fluorescent lamp 18b which is a bar-shaped light emitting body and the illuminator 18 is installed inside an area surrounded by the pattern display tapes 13A-13C so as to make the fluorescent lamp 18b be over the plurality of the pattern display tapes 13A-13C.
