Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element using plastics substrates provided with a reflection layer or a semitransmissive-reflection layer on the outside of a polarizing plate of the one side and which are hardly warped under warming or humidifying atmosphere. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display element comprising a liquid crystal display cell which consists of a liquid crystal filled and sealed between two sheets of the epoxy resin plastic substrates, on both sides of which the polarizing plates are laminated and which is provided with the semitransmissive-reflection layer composed of a silver-deposited polyester film with <=10 g/m2.24 h moisture vapor permeation rate on the outside of the polarizing plate of the one side, the liquid crystal display element is provided with a moisture vapor barrier layer composed of a polyester film with ITO(indium tin oxide) attached by sputtering with <=10 g/m2.24 h moisture vapor permeation rate on the outside of the polarizing plate of the other side.
