Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device which prevents sealing performance from deteriorating by means of hindering a seal lip from suffering abrasive flaw caused by foreign matter and the like, which enters a sliding surface of the seal lip and charge the surface of seal lip with abrasive flaw to deteriorate sealing performance as a shaft is started to rotate, through intruding into the sliding surface of the seal lip, in the case that sealing objects are foreign matter and the like mixing in liquid existing in a sealing side. SOLUTION: Providing a number of protrusions of guide vanes 6 on an inclined surface existing in a sealing side S of a seal lip 5, at the time of a relative rotation between a housing 2 and a shaft 3, by means of protrusions of guide vanes 6, producing plenty of flow volume of liquid existing in clearance between protrusions of guide vanes 6 toward a fixed direction to the sealing side S, as a result, foreign matter and the like mixing in liquid existing in the sealing side is pushed back to the sealing side S, so that foreign matter and the like become impossible to intrude into the sliding surface of the seal lip 5, then deterioration of sealing performance is to be prevented by hindering the sliding surface of the seal lip 5 from suffering abrasive flaw.
