Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the machinability of a brass material in which γ-phase is utilized to improve machinability by performing an optimization of crystal structure (such as the promotion of embrittlement of γ-phase, the reduction of ductility of α-phase). SOLUTION: The effect of improving machinability can be increased by incorporating the γ-phase in amounts of 5-40% into the crystal structure and also carrying out the control of the grain size/shape of the γ-phase, the addition of the third element, and the control of the phase ratio of β-phase.
