Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bacterium of the genus Staphylococcus capable of decomposing and assimilating a nitrogen-containing compound such as dimethylformamide, an alkylamine, etc., and to provide a method for decomposing the nitrogen-containing compound using the bacterium. SOLUTION: This bacterium of the genus Staphylococcus capable of decomposing and assimilating the nitrogen-containing compound, such as Staphylococcus sp. EN2A (FERM P-17.551) is separated. The bacterium as it is or a cultured microbial cell obtained by culturing the bacterium or a material treated with the microbial cell is brought into contact with dimethylformamide or the alkylamine so that the nitrogen-containing compound can effectively decomposed. |
