PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a protector in low temperature by molding the protector, fixed to muffler body through bracket, out of synthetic resin with the shape to fit the surface of muffler body and applying chrome plating at least to the surface opposing to muffler body. SOLUTION: The muffler, used by unit swing type two-wheeled vehicle, is provided with muffler body 5 connected to the rear part of exhaust pipe which extendes from cylinder head rearward, while a plurality of expansion chambers and catalytic converters are installed inside the muffler. The lumber- like protector 11, molded out of synthetic resin and stretching along the outside surface of muffler body 5, is fixed, at the front and rear end thereof, to the side of muffler body 5 through bracket 13. Hairline finish is applied to the surface of protector 11 exposed to the outside of vehicle body, while chrome plating is applied to the whole outer surface thereof and mat clear painting is applied thereon.
