Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a uniform light-guiding glass film having small refractive index distribution. SOLUTION: Glass soot is directly blasted with a glass soot synthesizing burner 21 against substrates 11 placed on a rotating turntable 31 to form a deposited glass soot layer, which is converted into a transparent glass at a high temperature. At least one of the following three controls is used in the above process for producing a light-guiding glass film, i.e., (a) control to keep the nearly constant speed of the burner relative to the substrate, (b) control to keep the temperature of the substrate or turntable with the heat-source almost meeting the relative speed of the burner and the substrate and (c) control to keep the feeding rate of the raw material almost meeting the relative speed of the burner and the substrate. |
