Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical actuator device which avoids problems specific to a polycrystalline material, which increases responsiveness and which can use a laser as a light source, by constituting the device of one of single crystals lithium niobate, tantalum niobate and barium titanate. SOLUTION: Characteristics of the optical actuator device 1 are improved by using a single crystal material. Practically, one of single crystals of lithium niobate, tantalum niobate, barium titanate or these compds. with addition of iron or copper is used to constitute the optical actuator device 1. By using a single crystal material for the optical actuator device 1, the direction of the single crystal in the device is uniformly aligned and the device shows no separated region in the fine crystal or hysteresis creep. Thus, the obtd. optical actuator device 1 solves problems specific to a conventional polycrystalline material. The response rate can be also improved by one order.
