Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of air bubbles in a display section of a liquid crystal element and the occurrence of a display defect. SOLUTION: A substrate which curls to recess with respect to the side in contact with a liquid crystal composition 5 at the time of heating up and is >=0.5 mm per 1 cm in the length of the substrate in the curling amt. is used for at least one of a pair of the substrates 2 and 3 of the liquid crystal element 1 constituted by forming a closed space between a pair of substrates 2 and 3 disposed to face each other and packing a liquid crystal composition 5 into the closed space. Namely, if the substrate which curls to recess with respect to the side in contact with the liquid crystal composition 5 at the time of heating up is used for at least one (for example, the upper substrate 2) of a pair of the substrates, pressure is applied to the liquid crystal layer by the force of the substrate tending to resume flatness by packing the liquid crystal composition into the closed spacing in the heated up state and restoring the ordinary temperature after end-sealing. The pressure in the liquid crystal element does no longer turns to excessive negative pressure and the generation of the air bubbles is prevented. |
