Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce impact noises which is produced by a rear gate when a raised load-carrying platform of a dump truck is lowered. SOLUTION: This rear-gate noise reducing apparatus includes a pneumatic cylinder 20 which is disposed at a longitudinally rearward and generally laterally intermediate position on the bottom of the load-carrying platform of the dump truck, wherein a piston rod 22 extendable backward within the load-carrying platform is attached to the pneumatic cylinder 20. The rear-gate noise reducing apparatus further includes elastic members 30, 32 attached to the tip of the piston rod through a coupling member for stopping the lower end of a rear gate 14 being lowered. The pneumatic cylinder is mounted such that the elastic members are positioned slightly beyond the rearmost end of the load-carrying platform when the piston rod is extended.
