PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use image input equipment shared on a network without interrupting a job through a client side user by enabling the image input equipment to be shared on the network and performing its control from the client side by using a general-purpose image input/output interface. SOLUTION: An image input server, which can be shared on a network, controls the operation of image input equipment connected onto the network, information of the input equipment control is converted into a general-purpose network protocol and is provided to the network. A network client device has a client means corresponding to the general purpose network protocol and converts equipment control information obtained from the server by using this client means into a general-purpose image input/output interface. Then, it is possible to control the image input equipment which is shared on the network.
