Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve to obtain stable flip motions at all times irrespective of the adjustment position of an adjustment dial. SOLUTION: This thermal overload relay comprises a main bimetal strip 2 bending based on an overcurrent, a release lever 4 following the displacement of its shifter 3, a reversing mechanism for contact open/close driven by the release lever 4, and a mechanism for adjusting a setting current value by an adjustment dial 7 with an adjustment link 6 linked to a base end of the releasing lever, and open/close output contacts by picking up the bend of the main bimetallic strip. The reversing mechanism comprises a movable plate 8 supported so as to be reversible with its lower end as a fulcrum, and a tension spring 9 extended between an upper end of the movable plate 8 and a support arm 13 disposed below the movable plate, and in order to reversingly drive the movable plate by pressing an end part 4a of the release lever 4 against the middle of the tension spring, a ring-shaped ridge part 9d formed into a ring is provided on the middle of the tension spring and the end part of the release lever is pressed against this ridge part.
