Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic picture display device by which a stereoscopic picture of a liquid crystal display panel is viewed as a virtual image through an output optical system without causing as thenopia by changing the position of the liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: When the depth of the virtual image of a stereoscopic picture to be reproduced is small, the position of the virtual image with respect to the stereoscopic picture on a color liquid crystal display panel 30 approaches positions of both left right eyes IL, IR of a viewer M by approaching the color liquid crystal display panel. On the other hand, in the case that the depth of the virtual image of the stereoscopic picture to be reproduced is large, the color liquid crystal display panel 30 is made away from the projection lens 40.
