Summary:892,900. Knitting-machines. WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. Oct. 14, 1959, No. 34869/59. Class 74 (2). A reinforcing thread guide rail 1 of a straightbar machine is reciprocated by a pair of two armed levers 4, 5 pivotally mounted, for movement in a common plane, on a slide 25 adjustable perpendicularly to the direction of movement of the rail, a first arm of each lever being alternately in driving and driven engagemnet with the rail and the other arms being alternately brought into operative connection with a cam 12 on the main shaft 13. The cam acts through a follower, a tappet 15, a push-rod 17 and bellcranks 8, 9. At the end of each traverse of the rail, a guide 18 of the push-rod is traversed to right or left, to bring the push-rod 17 from under one bell-crank to a position under the other, for the return traverse of the rail. To idle the drive, the roller of the follower lever is displaced from the cam 12 on to a disc 31. The adjustment of the slide 25, to vary the stroke of the rail, is effected by a pattern device acting through a chain 30 and a screw 29 coacting with a nut 28 on the slide. Skids 26, 27 are provided at the ends of the levers 4, 5.
