Summary: | Load handling device for lifting and moving one or more containers stacked in a storage system comprising a grid framework structure supporting a plurality of tracks arranged in a grid pattern above the one or more stacks of containers. The load handling device comprising a driving mechanism for moving the load handling device on the grid structure, a vehicle body housing a container receiving space located above the tracks; a lifting device comprising a lifting drive assembly and a grabber device to releasably grip a container and lift the container from the stack into the container receiving space, a cassette housing a rechargeable power source for powering the driving mechanism. A thermal management system 200 comprising one or more temperature sensors 202 and at least one temperature regulating device 206 comprising heating elements to raise the temperature of the rechargeable power source to within a predetermined temperature range in response to a signal from temperature sensors. The temperature regulating device 206 is controllable from outside of the cassette through a communication port, the communication port provides signals on the status of the rechargeable power source to a controller 208 external of the cassette. |
