Summary:A vacuum cleaner comprising a handle (2018, fig.34), part of a battery assembly 2000, and a separation system 100 comprising a chamber (122, fig.13) housing a filter (202, fig.13), preferably U-shaped (i.e., C-shaped or curved) in cross-section, for filtering airflow entering through an airflow inlet (140, fig.6), which extends in a direction parallel to a first axis along which the airflow enters the chamber, wherein the handle extends along an axis parallel to the first axis. A second filter (208, fig.13), preferably of flat cross-sectional shape, may underlie the first filter such that airflow flows through it after flowing through the first filter in a direction orthogonal to the first axis. The airflow may then flow to an outlet channel (310, fig.17) underlying the filter, which extends parallel to the first axis, and into a motor assembly 1000 before exiting the device. The chamber may be defined by a bin body (108, fig.13) for collecting dirt, where a bin interlock member inhibits removal of the bin body from a core (300, fig.16) or the separation system when a cleanerhead 3000 is attached.
