Summary:A detachable accessory 1 for a fencing mask comprising a main body 5 and multiple projections 7A, 8A extending from a surface 6 of the body, wherein each protrusion can be removably inserted into the apertures of the face guard mesh. The projections may have compressible portions 9 at their distal tip of larger cross-section than the rest of the projection. The attachable item may be a light, such as an LED strip; padding; a protective bib or a camera. The main body may be flexible, such as rubber or plastic. Also disclosed is a fencing mask with the insertable device, and a method for attaching the accessory to a fencing mask.
