Abstract | In a first embodiment a signal including a pulse train is received and analysed using a stochastic histogram to identify the pulses and a value of a parameter of the pulses. The stochastic histogram differs from a regular histogram in that it uses the measured or assumed variance for a parameter to spread the histogram when each data point is added to the histogram (see e.g. page 39 and 46). Multiple stochastic histograms are produced, one for each parameter required. The pulses could be for a radar, sonar or GPS system and the parameter could be a pulse repetition interval (PRI), angle of arrival (AOA), a frequency or a pulse width. A second embodiment is concerned with cooperative detection and classification of a signal using two receivers. For example, the same signal could be received on two separate aircraft. Each receiver generates information based on the signal and one of the receivers combines both sets of information in order identify desired information about a repetitive portion of the signal. Alternatively, both receivers could match received signals. |
