Summary:A connector comprises male 280 and female 290 couplings with passages / channels 285, 295 respectively for providing fluid flow between a first screened tubing 210 and a second screened tubing 220. The male coupling 280 is coupled to the first screened tubing 210 at a first end whilst the female coupling 290 is coupled to the second screened tubing at a second end. Furthermore, a sliding sleeve 260 is disposed on the second screened tubing 220 for selectively opening or closing holes 270 to direct fluid into a perforated inner tubing 225, and into a production tubing. The screen assembly is used for gravel packing, during which if a premature gravel bridge (460, figure 4) is formed, the passages 285, 295 provide an alternate flow path for the gravel.
