For securing and sealing a spigot member (1) in the neck of a container the neck of the container has a tubular extension (2) of which the opening is reduced by an inturned flange (3) and which embraces a connecting ring (4) into which the spigot member (1) is inserted with a compressible seal (5) arranged in the neighbourhood of the flange (3), and by the insertion of the spigot member (1) into the ring (4) a shoulder (6) provided on the inserted end of the spigot member (1) is guided to engage against the outside of the flange (3) and simultaneously the ring (4) is held against a stop face on the inside of the flange (3), compressing the seal (5). Other arrangements of seal and connecting ring are disclosed.
