Summary:A portable lamp comprising a base and a bulb holder, wherein the bulb holder is mounted on the base by means of an arm, which is pivotably connected at one end to the base and at the other end to the bulb holder such that the relative position and orientation of the bulb holder and base can be adjusted, the arm forming at least part of an electrical connection between the power supply at the base and a bulb in the bulb holder. Preferably a power switch is provided which can function as a carrying clip. Preferably the bulb holder and base can be so oriented relative to each other as to form together a pencil-like torch.
