Summary:The present invention relates to a method of preparing steroid compounds in a form having a particle size within a desired and specific range. The compounds prepared by the method of the invention are those having a basic ring structure of the general formula: wherein X represents the remainder of a heterocyclic ring, in particular a 5-membered ring having at least 2 heteroatoms, and the method comprises dissolving the compound in an organic solvent, precipitating the compound by mixing a non-solvent for the compound with the said solution, and controlling the mixing conditions to produce a precipitate having the desired reduced particle size.
