Summary:1,198,610. Triazines. HOOKER CHEMICAL CORP. 28 July, 1967, No. 483/70. Divided out of 1,198,113. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Triazines and/or nitrile polymers are obtained by contacting nitriles of the formula P-QC=N with oxides of metals of Group IB, IIB, III, IV, V, VIIB or VIII of the Periodic Table at 0‹ to 400‹ C., wherein Q is a radical of the formula or a phenylene radical optionally substituted by halogen atoms or trifluoromethyl, C 6-20 aryl, C 6-20 aryloxy, C 1-20 alkoxy, C 6-20 arylcarbonyl or nitrile groups, each of X and G being halogen atoms, each of Y and L being hydrogen or halogen atoms or C 1-20 alkyl, C 1-25 haloalkyl, C 6-20 aryl, C 1-25 perhaloalkyl, C 1-25 perhaloalkenyl, cyanoperhaloalkyl or nitrile groups, each of m and n being zero or an integer such that the sum of m and n is at least one, a, b and d each being 0 or 1, and each of Z and W being a -CXY-, -CGL-, C 1-12 perhaloalkylidene, C 1-12 perhaloalkylene, carbonyl, oxy, sulphinyl, thio, thiocarbonyl, diazo, tetrafluorothio, sulphonyl, -[-(O) a (CXY) m O(CXY) n -] u - or -[-NR # -(CF 2 ) m -NR # -(CF 2 ) n -] p - where u is from 1 to 10, p is from 1 to 12 and Rf is a fluorine atom or a C 1-12 perfluoroalkyl group; and P is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a nitrile radical.
